How to Dab Without a Torch

How to Dab Without a Torch

As dabbing becomes massively popular, companies are developing more advanced and user-friendly ways to flash-vaporize our favorite concentrates without the use of analog equipment. Traditionally, dabbing involves the use of a dab rig, which is a specialized pipe that contains a nail onto which the concentrates are placed. The nail is heated with a butane torch to reach a very hot temperature that instantly converts the concentrates into vapor.

Now, while that is the traditional means for dabbing, today’s market offers all kinds of dabbing methods that don’t require the use of a torch whatsoever. Not to mention, there are plenty of reasons why a dabber may wish to avoid a setup that involves a torch.

Why Might Some Dabbers Desire Torch-Free Dabbing?

Traditional dabbing requires a butane torch, which is used because it gets much hotter than a standard lighter and concentrates by nature have higher boiling points and so they require temperatures above 400 degrees. Still, not everyone is enthusiastic about a routine that involves such a heavy-duty heat source. Among the reasons why a torch may be undesirable are:

  1. Safety Issues: Of course, working with an extremely hot flame is dangerous. And, there’s nothing wrong with feeling nervous about using one, especially if you’re a regular dabber who is going to be lighting that torch on a pretty frequent basis.
  2. Maintenance: A torch needs to be refilled with butane regularly, as this is what acts as its source for heat. The process of refilling a torch is rather tedious, and it’s understandable that not all dabbers simply wish to incorporate this ritual into their routines.
  3. Lack of Temperature Control: Perhaps the most commonly cited drawback of using a butane torch to heat your dabs is its inconsistency. Most dabbers have a “sweet spot” which is the temperature at which all of the qualities they desire come together. With a torch, you simply can’t guarantee that you achieve the same temperature time and time again, since variables like length of heat exposure and proximity to the core of the nail make a huge difference in the temperature that the nail will reach.

Your Options When Avoiding a Torch

The good news is that there are ways to enjoy truly blissful dabs without having to use a butane torch. Primarily, there are two methods: using an alternative heat source for an analog setup or using an electronic setup that handles the temperature control for you.

Option #1: Stovetop Heating

If you insist on continuing to use an analog device, then you can try the stovetop heating method, although this can be even more dangerous and less consistent than a torch, so most people will actually find that this method is disappointing.

  • If using a dab rig, it involves holding the nail in a pair of tongs and placing it directly above the flame until it turns red.
  • If you’re using a nectar collector, it involves holding the container inside of tongs right above the flame.

Again, this method can be dangerous, and there’s a good chance that you won’t get the right temperature and can therefore, risk burning your concentrates.

Option #2: Electronic Dabbing

The far superior method to torch-free dabbing is opting for an electronic dabbing system, of which there are many from which you can choose. Electronic dabbing is a godsend to those who don’t like using torches, because the internal technology allows the nail or chamber to achieve the right heat level without you having to manually heat it yourself. It comes without any of the hazards of an open torch flame, and there is no butane to be refilled. These devices maintain precise temperature so that you don’t have to worry about failing to find your sweet spot with each dabbing session.

Option #3: Enails

An enail is attached to your regular dab rig electronically. Its job is to heat your nail to a controlled temperature that is selected by you, ensuring that your dabs are always satisfying according to your unique demands. Some enails use temperature preset options, while others allow you to adjust to an exact temperature. More advanced models allow for both temperature selection options.

Enails are a great choice because they allow you to still enjoy the use of a conventional dab rig, so that you don’t need to buy an entire new setup. They are extremely reliable in performance and often travel-friendly.

Option #4: Dab Pens

dab pen is a lot like a traditional vaping setup, which is portable and very easy to use. Rather than using a traditional tank or cartridge, they contain a chamber into which you place your concentrates. Then, you select a heat option and the coil inside reaches a specific temperature to heat your concentrates, so that vapor can easily be pulled into the mouth through the mouthpiece.

Dab pens are ideal for those who want a far more simplified approach to daily dabbing and want something that they can easily take with them. While their features may not be as advanced as other types of dabbing setups, the convenience can be well worth it.

Option #5: Desktop Electric Dab Rigs

Desktop electric dab rigs are not portable, but they offer far more advanced features than most enails and dab pens. They are larger dab rig setups that operate completely through electronic technology, with all kinds of temperature options, and many that have Bluetooth capability so that you can make adjustments without having to touch your device. They come in different sizes, and either use concentrate chambers, buckets or both.

Say Goodbye to a Torch Once and for All!

Anyone out there now ready to ditch the torch, then any of these three electronic dab setups can satisfy those daily dabbing needs while still providing some amazingly bold flavor and powerful hits that you so crave. At E-nail.com, you can find a wide array of dabbing kits that are electronically powered and require no torching whatsoever.
