How We Chose the Best Electric Nectar Collectors

Heating Performance

Heating performance covers a few different things, like how quickly the coil heats up to temperature and if it remains consistently at a certain temperature. There is also low temp dabbing flavor and then high temp dabbing flavor. Also, if the device is prone to clogging issues or pooling issues which lead to wasted concentrate.

Tip Materials and Replacement Options Availability

Most devices on the market come with a crushed quartz coil, this is the more common standard option. However, you can find a solid clear quartz coil, ceramic coils, a mixture of both ceramic and quartz as well. Both Quartz and Ceramic provide excellent flavor, quartz just heats up a bit faster than ceramic does and ceramic heats more evenly.

Temperature Control

For most devices you are looking at preset temperature settings that are measured out in volts. Usually, electric nectar collectors will have anywhere from 2-5 different voltage settings that adjust the power of the device which in turn adjusts the heat. When you get to the more expensive higher quality devices, they will have precision temperature control as well as a digital display to showcase your temp.

Battery Life and Charging Time

For those that are constantly on the go battery life is a super important factor to consider, having an idea of the approximate sessions per charge might give you a nudge toward a certain device over another. Especially since this estimate can sometimes range so drastically, from 5-10 dabs per charge to 20-25 dabs per charge. Of course this number changes based on the temperature setting and how long your device is activated throughout each session.

There are some other additional features that can sometimes be a deal breaker like pass through charging, removable batteries, or even whether it's usb or usb-c.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Cleaning is an important part of getting the best experience out of your electric nectar collector, smooth clean flavorful dabs is the name of the game. Some devices have many removable parts, and some are just a little harder to clean. You'll have to maneuver your way around certain parts to get them as clean as you possibly can. Most devices come with an easily accessible airpath to at least get the airpath clean, however the coils are a bit of a different story.

Cheaper less expensive electric nectar collectors usually come with inexpensive disposable coil tips, they are a little harder to clean and require a replacement once a week or once every few days depending on use. For more expensive devices, you can expect your coil tip to last months sometimes up to a year with proper cleaning and maintenance.

Some electric nectar collector technology has been phased out as newer updated versions are introduced to the market. Make sure you can find coil tips compatible with your device before making your purchase, you WILL need to replace this item eventually. Unfortunately, coil tips do not last forever!

Portability and Build Quality

Electric nectar collectors are designed to be super portable and efficient much like a dab pen, just without the loading process that comes with pens. Some devices are easier to carry around than others especially with added accessories things can get to be a bit heavy.

Generally carrying cases are a great investment for electric nectar collectors, a case will help to protect your coil tip from accidental drops but it also keeps all your dabbing accessories together in the same place.

If your favorite nectar collector does not come with an included case, you can always get one separately! Check out this link here:

The Best Electric Nectar Collectors of 2026

Lookah Seahorse Pro Plus - Best Electric Nectar Collector Overall

The seahorse pro plus is an absolute fan favorite, it comes at a great price, the replacement parts are inexpensive, and its function and flavor is great. What more could you ask for?

One of the best parts of a Lookah Seahorse Pro Plus are the many different coil options available, you can choose between crushed quartz, clear quartz, ceramic, and the ceramic tube. Each of these lookah coil tips provide a different dabbing experience, you can choose your favorite based on what type of concentrate you usually use, or whatever fits your flavor profile the best.

This device is a little on the inexpensive side, so you won't find extremely fancy features like you would with other options. It has 3-4 preset temperature settings, a manual heating cycle or an automatic heating cycle mode which we like to call session mode. You also have the option to update your glass tube airpath into a water bubbler later down the line, if you like having the option of added water filtration!

Best For:

Beginners, those that have never tried an electric nectar collector and would like to try one without breaking the bank. For regular users that want a more affordable portable option that is super quick and easy to use without a lengthy loading process that you might find with some dab pens.

Potential Drawbacks:

Although this device is super reliable, it is still made of plastic parts and glass so when it comes to construction it's not the most durable device you can get. The voltage settings that adjust the power are suitable for most types of concentrates, however, you are not getting a precise temperature with variable voltage settings.

When you are running back to back heating cycles, meaning your coil tip is already hot. Running a second heating cycle on an already hot tip might make it pretty hard to gauge your dabbing temperature throughout your sessions. This guessing game can lead to a coil tip that's too hot which ends up burning your wax instead of vaporizing it.

Little Dipper V2 LCD - Best for Precise Temperature Control

The Little Dipper has been around for years, think of the V2 as the same device just with a bit of a facelift including more modernized technology. This upgrade included an LCD display with precise voltage control, allowing you to adjust your voltage anywhere from 3.0V to 5V.

This device is very compact and perfect for travel, the LCD screen gives you real insight into all your dabbing sessions making it even easier to use. Not to mention, the little dipper style coil is incredibly simple to clean and made to last months or even years of use. All you have to do is soak it in alcohol, rinse it in water, wait for it to dry and you're good to go!

A dipper v2 device gives you higher powered sessions for bigger sized dabs and bigger clouds. You can alternate between focusing on flavor and focusing on power as much as you'd like. The adjustable settings also gives you more control over the types of wax you are using. Remember that thicker concentrates need higher temperatures to vaporize correctly!

Best For:

Those that would like more control over their dab sessions, without the guess work of which LED light means what. The LCD screen on this device makes everything super simple and clear to read out.

For those that do not want to constantly have to purchase new coils and replace them weekly, the little dipper coil is a great durable option with quick and easy maintenance.

Potential Drawbacks:

Although the little dipper is an amazing device overall, you are a little limited when it comes to coil options and water filtration options. This electric nectar collector is only meant to be used as a nectar collector and nothing else.

Lookah Seahorse King - Best for Frequent or Longer Sessions

The Seahorse King is very similar to the Seahorse Pro Plus, but think of the pro plus with a larger battery with better battery life. You have the similar operation, function, and coil options but better session times.

Like the pro plus the lookah seahorse king has an all glass airpath that's removable and easy to clean. You also have the option of purchasing the water bubbler if you prefer cooler dab sessions. The seahorse king has an improved design making it more comfortable to hold in your hand over the earlier models like the pro and pro plus.

Best For:

Regular seahorse users that want the same functions and coil options with a bigger battery.

Potential Drawback:

The design of the seahorse king is more comfortable in your hand however its a little bit bigger than its predecessors making it not incredibly comfortable in your pocket. It's still portable, just not as pocket friendly.

Lookah Seahorse Max - Best Electric Nectar Collector with Water Filtration

The lookah seahorse max is an older model of the seahorse collection but it's the only reliable, sturdy option that comes with a hefty sized water bubbler attachment already included in its kit. The max is equipped with a large battery, with the same seahorse coil options, however it has an xl bubbler attachment for water filtration. This water bubbler is the same exact bubbler that's found on the unicorn dab rig.

A water bubbler really helps to cool down your dab vapor before inhaling it making the whole session much more enjoyable and relaxed without intense coughing fits. Since the max is much bigger than other devices it's more ideal for at home use. It does come with a stand to simplify your dabbing process and maintain a clean setup!

Best For:

Those that like the handheld experience of a nectar collector but prefer the water filtration of an electric dab rig.

Potential Drawback:

With the addition of a massive glass bubbler the seahorse max is not a discreet vaporizer, and since a major part of it is made of glass it is more fragile than its predecessor.

Yocan Loki - Best Budget Electric Nectar Collector

The Yocan Loki is a wonderfully crafted device that gives you a premium feel without paying a premium price. Its entire body is made of aluminum and zinc alloy maintaining a light weight grip with a sturdy structure. This electric nectar collector has dual airpaths on either side of the device for max airflow and minimal clogging.

You have a 650mah battery which isn't the biggest battery, it's more standard when it comes to these devices, lasting around 10 sessions. The loki coil is called the xtal tip, which is made of crushed quartz with a ceramic looking housing. It operates in manual mode where you have to press the button down to initiate a heating cycle, but it also has an automatic mode.

Automatic mode is like a sesh mode, where the device runs continuous power for 15 seconds straight. You have three different voltage settings available, low, medium, and high which gives a good range of temperatures to work with. This device is on the smaller side and it's pretty thin and flat, perfect to keep in your pocket while on the go.

Best For:

Beginners that are more clumsy, and want a sturdier construction. Since this device has an all metal body, it can take accidental drops and falls a bit better than an all plastic seahorse pro plus. The airpaths are located inside the device instead of it being a glass tube, which also adds to its durability.

Potential Drawback:

The loki xtal coils are a little hard to come by these days, so they might be harder to find.

Huni Badger Mini - Best Compact Electric Nectar Collector

Huni Badger has made waves in the electric nectar collector game since 2019 with their original huni badger electric nectar collector. The original comes with everything you could ever want out of a nectar collector and frankly, it was way ahead of its time. However, this version was a bit bulky and a tad on the pricey side, that's why they decided to create the Mini Badger.

The mini badger comes with a 650mah battery which is pretty standard, three temperature settings, and the classic known and loved ceramic tube tip coil. A ceramic tube tip coil is super similar to the experience of using a standard nectar collector just without the torch flame.

This mini badger device simplifies the whole dabbing process, keeping things easy going and incredibly discreet. It also comes with a threaded mouthpiece to make it compatible with water bubbler accessories which can be purchased separately. So, water filtration is an option with some really high quality glass pieces.

Best For:

Those who enjoy the huni badger experience but want something that's a little more compact and discreet.

Potential Drawback:

Limited to using only the ceramic tube coil.

Lookah Seahorse X - Best Multifunction Electric Nectar Collector

If you are the type that likes having an electric nectar collector on hand but you also like to have a variety of options you can experiment with. The lookah seahorse x should definitely be on your radar. The seahorse x is a multifunctional device that can be used as a dab pen, an electric nectar collector, and a portable enail. The beauty of this device is that you can take it with you when you're on the go, or you use it when you are settled in at home. It's a nice mix of both types of devices without sacrificing convenience.

For on the go, you can either use the dab pen configuration if you're looking for a more discreet way to dab, or the electric nectar collector setup. For at home, you can connect it to a dab rig for added water filtration without having to use a big bulky high temp torch and still get perfect dab rips. You also have the choice of using the silicone hose as a connector for a dab rig as well.

Best For:

Those who want to experiment with different consumption styles, and would like the convenience of an on the go setup and an at home setup.

Potential Drawback:

This device is a little on the expensive side if you are just looking to “try” a nectar collector this might not be your best option.

Buyers Guide: How to Choose an Electric Nectar Collector

Quartz vs Ceramic Tips

Both quartz and ceramic provide excellent flavor, ceramic is a bit slower to heat up to temperature while quartz is super fast. They both provide balanced flavor and smooth dabs when compared to titanium.

Certain coil tips have exposed metal wiring, this can sometimes disrupt the flavor profile of your dabs. It's best to look for a coil that has an embedded heating element rather than an exposed one. Checking the availability of coils prior to purchasing your electric nectar collector is incredibly important or else you'll be stuck with a device that is essentially a paper weight until you can get the coils you need.

Preset Voltage vs Digital Temperature Control

So most electric nectar collector devices have an adjustable voltage which provides more or less power to the heating coil. The only device that has somewhat precise temperature control is the little dipper, it’s STILL voltage adjustments just down to the single digit.

Digital control is better if you use different types of wax materials, thicker waxes need higher power output to vaporize correctly.

Battery Size and Charging

If battery life is important to you, make sure you are looking at the device specifications prior to completing your purchase. Some devices have removable batteries like the original huni badger, while others have an integrated battery like the seahorse pro. A removable battery might be a real deal breaker especially if you're someone that enjoys camping or festivals, or being anywhere that might not have an electrical outlet readily available.

Also check to see if the device supports passthrough charging, this is just a fancy way of saying, you can still use the device while it's on the charger. This isn't always recommended and it's probably best that you don't do this even if your device has passthrough charging. However, if you are one of those people that waits until the last minute to charge your device, this would probably be a good feature to have on your device.

Replacement Coils and Long Term Costs

Although your initial spend on a device might be low, the long term maintenance costs can really start to add up when you are comparing costs over the course of a year. Prime example the lookah seahorse pro plus is available for $39.99 however, you will most likely need to replace your coil weekly. A 4 pack of seahorse v coils retails for $29.99. Over a year your cost on your seahorse pro plus might come out to $360, and that's not including the cost of the device.

While the huni badger might be $160-$240 dollars, depending on whether you get the older model or the newest pro model. The coil cost is only $20, if you are properly maintaining it it can last you 3-12 months at a time driving your maintenance cost down drastically long term.

  • Seahorse Pro Plus Yearly Coil Spend + Device = $400.00
  • Huni Badger Original Yearly Coil Spend (4 coils a year) + Device = $220.00
  • Huni Badger Pro Yearly Coil Spend (4 coils a year) + Device = $300.00

At the end of it all the huni badger is a much more high quality device over the seahorse pro, with much less yearly spend on maintenance items.

  3. Most devices can be turned on with a series of button clicks, most commonly 5 clicks in fast succession.
  4. Select either the lowest or medium heat setting, you can do this with a series of button clicks as well. If you are not sure how many clicks you can refer to your user manual. P
  5. ress the power button to initiate a heating cycle without touching the coil to your concentrate, this will burn off any residue on the coil from the manufacturing process.
  6. Allow it to cool and then initiate another heating cycle, this time touching the tip to your concentrate.
  7. Touch the edge of your coil tip to your concentrate gently.
  8. Inhale slowly through the mouthpiece, lightly rotating or just moving the tip edge around your concentrate jar.
  9. Do not dunk the entire hot coil into your wax, this will most likely clog your coil and your coil will need to be replaced almost immediately.
  10. Once your session is done, you can run another heating cycle without touching the coil tip to your concentrate to burn off any excess residue off the coil.
  11. Let the coil tip completely cool before placing the coil cap back onto the device, these are usually made of hard plastic and they will melt or burn if the coil is still hot.
