Which Glass Rig Pairs Best with an Enail? Recycler vs Incycler vs Klein Recycler

Choosing the correct dab rig for your enail might be a daunting task, there are so many different percs, sizes, styles. From recyclers, incyclers, and what in the world is a Klein?

We're here to give you the deets with a complete breakdown that makes sense, not only for your dabbing setup but also your preferences. We always recommend going with a dab rig that is in the recycler family for dabbing with an enail, but that's not the end all be all. You can always venture out and check out different styles that work best for you!

Alright, well since our recommendation is usually going with a recycler dab rig, im sure you might be asking “why?”

Awesome question! - Recyclers provide an intense amount of filtration which is almost needed when you are working with hot “oils” heated to around 500 degrees. (No one wants 500 degree particles of oil in their mouth or lungs.. ouch.) On the flip side, recyclers only need a little bit of water to complete this filtering process. The small amount of water cools off your dab vapor without overdoing it to the point where your vapor turns back into a solid piece of wax.

So, here's the thing, you want your dab vapor to be AS SMOOTH as possible but without cooling it too much. This is the result you should be going after. With too much cooling you’ll barely be able to get a decent hit and your whole rig will be full of reclaim by the time you're done with your session. Caca.

What Even Is A Recycler?

What a crazy question huh? Why do they even call it a recycler?

Well I'm about to educate the crap out of you. BOOM, so, the term “recycler” refers to a glass piece traditionally used for dabbing (but you can use it for smoking flower whatever floats your boat) that pulls your water from one chamber into another. There is usually some sort of funnel that allows the water to flow back into the first chamber and the circulation process repeats. Essentially it's a dab rig that uses a two chamber system that passes water back and forth to filter your vapor.

Recyclers “recycle” water by passing it through one chamber to the other in a continuous motion. The constant circulation of water reduces reclaim on the dry pieces of your glass, keeps the flavors of your dab intact, cools and filters without pushing it too far, and lets face it… it also looks pretty cool.

Classic Recycler (External Tubes) - The OG Triple OG of Recyclers

How it Works:

The classic recycler has a distinct appearance you can't miss, it'll have one hollow section closer to the top and one hollow section at the bottom, these are the chambers we keep referring to. There should be a series of tubes that help to pull the water from the bottom chamber up to the top chamber while you are inhaling. This could be 2-3 tubes (most common) and sometimes even more, like 10-12 tubes!

As the tubes pull the water up into the top section, there is usually a spinning tornado/whirlpool effect that happens. You should see a separate piece of tubing that's connected to the very end of the top chamber, which funnels the water back down into the bottom chamber.

Flavor Profile:

The standard recycler is said to deliver some of the best, sharpest flavors around. Best used with Live Rosin or any wax with a high terpene profile.

How it Pairs Well With an Enail:

Pros:

  • Recyclers tend to be taller in height and usually they are paired with a wide sturdy looking base. There are more pieces attached to this type of dab rig so it needs to have more weight at the bottom to stop it from tipping. These two factors ensure that your dab rig can hold up the extra weight of an enail coil, banger, and additional accessories.
  • With their two chamber system, recyclers provide the best filtering and cooling for dabbing in general making it a perfect pairing for an enail.

Cons:

  • As previously mentioned, recyclers have extra tubes that extend out from the bottom chamber to the top. Since these tubes are exposed and not set close to the dab rig, they are pretty fragile and can break easily.
  • They are larger in size with a wide base making them best for at home use.

Best for:

  • People that prioritize flavor
  • At home dabbing
  • Those that aren't clumsy with their glass pieces

Incycler (Internal Tubes) Compact Version

How it Works:

Incyclers are very similar to recyclers, the only difference is the top chamber is positioned inside the rig instead of having its own placement outside the rig. The inner chamber usually has a cylindrical type of look with a pinched “V” bottom to create a funnel for the water to flow downwards.

As you inhale the water is pulled upwards inside the rig and it makes its way into the top chamber through these large holes positioned at the top of the “pinched cylinder”. The water and vapor is then cycled down through a tube that is connected to the bottom of the funnel. This tube is straight and leads right to the percolator, it is also located inside the rig.

Flavor Profile:

Incyclers have a more contained vapor path compared to regular recyclers, this provides top notch flavor from your dabs with even smoother rips.

The repetitive motion of water cycling through the rig pulls your vapors into the water so that your vapors don't get stuck in one place. This cycling motion / mixing motion is increased since the two chambers are inside of each other instead of separate.

How it Pairs with an Enail:

Pros:

  • Incyclers are a compact version of recyclers, they offer all the benefits without the extra fragile tubes located outside of the rig.
  • Vapor and water mixing is increased because the two chambers are closer together.

Cons:

  • Large internal parts on a dab rig are sometimes harder to clean, you need to be patient when cleaning. Go for a soak and rinse formula and allow your rig to soak for a few hours to soften the wax inside your rig and then rinse it thoroughly.

Best for:

  • Those that are more clumsy with their glass
  • If you are using a larger bucket enail and coil that is heavier, you might be better off going for something that has less fragile parts just in case it falls it wont break on you.

Klein Recycler - Jack of All Trades

How it Works:

The Klein Recycler has a mixture of distinct characteristics from both recyclers and incyclers combined into one. It features an inner chamber (located inside the rig - like an incycler) which allows the entire rig construction to be more sturdy, but instead of an inner straight tube (to funnel the water back down to the lower chamber) it has a curved outer tube that allows the water to flow back down into the bottom, like a recycler.

The issue with incyclers is that there is only one straight tube in the middle that controls the draining which is also attached to the perc. This can sometimes disrupt the circulation “loop” of a recycler, the added draining tube positioned outside of the rig helps to run things smoothly.

Having separate water flow tubes makes it so the upward and downward flow isn't fighting against each other.

Flavor Profile:

Users state that the flavor produced by a Klein recycler is not as sharp as you would expect from a standard recycler, but the flavor does stay consistently the same throughout the entire dab. Meaning there are no bits of stale vapor making its way into your dab session.

How it Pairs with an Enail:

Pros:

  • The klein combines both recycler types in one, so instead of having two separate chambers with empty space in the middle, this rig has an internal chamber. This makes the rig overall more sturdy.
  • It trumps incyclers since the draining tube is separate from the intake tube which allows for the circulation to be constant and uninterrupted.

Cons:

  • Like an incycler this type of rig has bigger internal parts that are hard to clean, along with a loop which is also super hard to reach.
  • The outer draining tube is fragile because it is separated from the rig itself! Not a great combination for clumsy people!

Best For:

  • Those who want the best of both worlds, that like a more compact rig but with an easier flow of water that an incyler can't offer.

Universal Tips for Pairing Any Recycler with Your Enail

Check Your Water Levels

As mentioned earlier in this guide, recyclers need very little water to function properly. If you are having trouble getting the water to circulate properly, it's most likely too little or too much water. With incyclers specifically, the water level is important for it to function the way that it should. The top chamber is connected to the mouthpiece, if you have too much water you can totally experience splashback issues.

Use a Reclaim Catcher if Possible

A reclaim catcher is an extremely useful accessory especially for beginners still trying to figure out dab temperature and dab sizes. Besides collecting reclaim it also adds an extra piece of glass between your rig and your dab nail/banger, furthermore, it creates some distance between your rig and your enail coil. Glass is much more fragile than quartz, it will crack when it's exposed to high temperatures.

Consider Your Coil Size

Bigger enail coils that are 30mm and above will cause more stress at the joint of your rig, they weigh more and can cause your rig to tip. If you have a bigger enail coil go for a dab rig with a solid full base instead of a hollowed out one. Incyclers might be a better option for you in case your rig tips, you wont break any external tubes.

Cleaning

If you are one of those people that genuinely hate deep cleaning your rig and youre impatient when it comes to using a soak and rinse formula, then maybe just going for a standard recycler might be best for you. These types of dab rigs DO stay cleaner for longer periods of time because of the water flow throughout the whole piece, but they aren't “dirt proof”. To extend the cleanliness of your rig you can always use something like forever bong water which breaks down reclaim as soon as reclaim enters your rig.

Final Verdict: Which Recycler Should You Buy for Your Enail?

  • For new dabbers: Start with an incycler, these rigs are more forgiving if they are dropped, they are more compact and stable.
  • For optimal flavors: Go for a standard OG recycler, this type of recycler will give you the sharpest notes from your concentrates.
  • For the best of both: A klein recycler gives you key features of both types of rigs, delivering a smoother water flow with a more compact construction!
