Dr. Dabber Switch 2 vs. Dr. Dabber Switch GO

The Dr Dabber Switch 2 paved the way with some insane upgrades from the original dr dabber switch that was released years ago. The only issue people seemed to have with this incredible device was its size. Dr Dabber heard you, and they delivered, introducing their all new mini version of the switch 2 called the switch go!

Both of these devices are insanely similar with a few key differences, one is better for at home use and larger dabs the other is more travel friendly and perfect for moderate sized dabs. We're going to take you through each one bit by bit so that you can buy the right switch for you the first time!

The Shared DNA: What's the Same?

No Atomizers:

Both the Switch 2 and the Switch GO are electric dab rigs that do not have atomizers. Instead they have something called heating cups, this cup is where you place your dab to be vaporized. Both dab rigs heating systems work by resistance waves instead of the traditional heating wire you would find with other electric dab rigs.

Same Temperature Range:

Both devices can be adjusted from 250 degrees all the way up to 650 degrees. This gives you the freedom to adjust your temp down to the single digit depending on your preference of low temps or higher temps, you also have the option to switch up your exact temperature depending on what type of concentrate you are using. Full of terps go for lower temp, shatter and hard consistency wax go for a little bit higher temps.

Both are App Enabled:

Each one of these devices are compatible with the Dr Dabber Companion App. You can set your temperature, switch between heating modes, set your custom profile, session times, light themes and more. All of these incredible features can be managed right in the palm of your hand.

Three Dynamic Heating Modes:

There are three different dynamic heating modes you can choose from with each of these devices, called Ascent, Decent, and Steady. Ascent is a gradual increase in temperature for cold start dabs, decent is a gradual decrease in temperature to mimic the experience of using a dab torch, and steady keeps your temperature the same just like using an enail.

The BIG Differences

Heating Technology - Induction vs Resistance Mesh

Dr Dabber Switch 2

Induction Heating Technology with Built In Infrared Temperature Sensor

Induction heating is some of the most accurate types of heating when it comes to electric dab rigs, but that's not all, the switch 2 is also backed with a built-in infrared temperature sensor. With induction heating, there is a mechanism inside the device that activates the electrons inside the metal.

This makes the electrons more active and creates a resistance which then creates heat. This is a no contact heating system, the activation of a heating cycle heats up the metal inside the device, then transfers heat to the quartz cup.

The built-in sensor gives you accurate temperature readings of your quartz cup so that the device does not overheat with each cycle. This also keeps track of your temps when working with the three heating modes available with the switch 2.

Dr Dabber Switch Go

Dual Mesh Resistance Heating with RTD (Resistance Temperature Detector) Sensor

The dual mesh system is a little different, so there is a metal mesh inside of this device, two mesh screens that are parallel to each other. Once you initiate a heating cycle it sends an electrical current to heat the mesh screens.

This electric current creates a resistance inside the metal which then causes it to heat up to temperature. These screens heat up the metal inside the device which then heats up your quartz cup.

A resistance temperature sensor is connected to the mesh metal, it measures the ohms within the metal to tell you how hot the metal is. Like the switch 2 this temperature sensor keeps track of your temperature when running multiple heating cycles but also when you are working with the three heating modes.

Notes:

Induction heating is much more accurate and efficient, the technology available with the switch 2 is extremely advanced for an electric dab rig. It's essentially three devices all put into one, making it totally worth the investment.

The Mesh heating system provides the necessary heat needed to dab extremely fast, the switch GO heats up to temperature in around 5 seconds. If you are someone that travels frequently or you need a faster yet efficient option, the switch go is a great investment. It incorporates some of the amazing features from the switch 2 just in a more portable package.

Size and Portability

As we mentioned before in the beginning, the reason why the switch go was invented is because of its smaller size and enhanced portability. The switch go is 54% smaller than the switch 2, BUT it does not have the same induction heating as the switch 2.

This is how dr dabber was able to achieve a smaller sized electric dab rig that is similar to the switch 2, they removed the induction heating portion and replaced it with dual mesh screens.

Chamber and Insert Size

This is one of the biggest factors to look at if you are someone that takes some pretty hefty dabs. So the switch 2 comes with a chamber that is 20mm in diameter which is absolutely massive when talking about an electric dab rig.

On the other hand the switch go has a chamber that is 14mm in diameter, which is still a decent size however the switch 2 would be able to handle much larger dabs with ease when comparing the two.

It is said that the switch 2 provides dense vapor with large clouds, and the switch go provides above average vapor but it's just not as dense.

Battery Life

Alright since the switch go is obviously smaller, you can surmise that the battery life is much less than the switch 2. The switch go should get you anywhere from 10-20 sessions on a single change. The switch 2 will get you around 20-40 sessions depending on what temperature settings you are using it on.

The switch go is said to get to a fill charge in about 50 minutes, again it has a smaller battery. The switch 2 can take an hour to 90 minutes to get to a full charge.

Water Filtration and Glass Attachments

The switch 2 has a larger bubbler / glass attachment, it sits inside the device but not fully, there is a portion of the device that protects the glass in the event of a drop but it is not totally shatter proof. On the switch go you'll notice the glass attachment is more securely surrounded by the device.

This is expected since the switch go is made to be more travel friendly! The inner glass attachment really keeps everything in place and protected while you are out and about. Price

There is only a 90 dollar price difference between the two devices, picking the right device for you is really just based on your lifestyle and personal preferences.

  • Switch 2: $420.00
  • Switch GO: 329.95

What's in the Box

Both of these devices come with similar components, obviously you have the device itself, the glass attachment, a charging cable, quartz insert, a carb cap and a dab tool. The only notable difference is the switch 2 actually comes with dr dabbers hot knife called the drop.

This is an electrically heated dab tool that simplifies the whole loading process when working with your electric dab rig. The drop retails for $39.95 which gives you a good amount of added value with your switch 2.
