Induction Dab Rig

What is an Induction Dabbing Dab Rig?

When it comes to dabbing devices, the latest innovation in dabbing technology is induction heating. Induction e-rigs and portable e-nails are fantastic dabbing tools because of their rapid heating time and accurate temperature control. Sleek and contemporary in appearance, these devices offer effortless operation.

One advantage of using an induction erig is that you never have to change the coil or atomizer. All you have to do is use iso and a dab swab in between dabs, and keep the bucket clean. The upfront investment may be higher than that of competing electric dab rigs, but the real savings are found over the course of time.

The puffco peak pro 3D atomizer is only one example of how other electric dab rigs' atomizers can cost up to $100. On the other hand, a couple of replacement induction heating cups for induction enails and dab rigs won't set you back more than $30.

A quartz banger is unnecessary with induction heaters because they use specialized glass induction cups. The inside of each cup is reinforced with a small layer of metal, which gives these borosilicate cups their distinctive appearance. The bucket gets hot but does not crack because only the metal layer within the cup is heated. That is the secret to induction technology.

Is Convection, Conduction, or Induction the Safest Way to Dab?

Traditional dabbing is a mixture of convection and conduction. Heating a banger with a torch or with an enail coil is an example of conduction heating. While using accessories like carb caps will keep the heat inside your banger and circulating which is an example of convection heating.

Induction heating is a form of indirect heat, so it's a little different from conduction. Induction heating devices heat by causing a resistance in the metal integrated into your insert. This heat is then transferred to its surrounding materials. This is why it is okay to use glass instead of quartz for induction heating, without the risk of cracking.

The main purpose of all these methods is to vaporize your concentrates which is generally healthier than any sort of combustion. Since induction heating is indirect there is less of a chance of burning through your materials at high temperatures which is better.

If you are dabbing above 600 degrees you are leaving yourself open to potential health issues!

Why Should I Buy an Induction Heating Electric Dab Rig over a Regular Electric Dab Rig?

Induction heating electric dab rigs are just a bit more superior to regular electric dab rigs because they use a different level of heating, require less maintenance, and have precision temperature control.

Induction heating is not your standard, “power to metal wire makes the wire hot” sort of heating, this type of dabbing technology uses magnetic waves to create a resistance in electrons within the metal causing it to heat up. This is the most accurate precision temperature control you can get out of a dabbing device.

Speaking of precision temperature control, these types of dab rigs usually feature customizable temperature settings. You are able to adjust your temps by the exact digit or at least increments of 5 degrees. Some higher end regular electric dab rigs share this same feature, however there are some cheaper priced options that only have preset temperature settings.

Lastly, the maintenance, most standard electric dab rigs require atomizer/coil replacements. Less expensive options need more frequent replacements when compared to the more expensive options. Induction dab rigs do not require any coil changes because it does not operate with one! These types of devices are used with something called an induction cup, the cup has your dabbing surface along with whatever metal material needed for the induction heating process. The most maintenance you would have to complete with these guys is cleaning out your induction cup regularly!

A cleaner dabbing surface will always lead to cleaner, fresh tasting dabs.

How Can I Reduce Reclaim When Using an Induction Cup?

Many Induction Dab Rig users complain about excess reclaim build up underneath the induction cup. Even if you keep your rig super clean this build up but be unavoidable if you are doing any of these things below.

This might require a little bit of trial and error, but as soon as you nail it you should be off to the races! First things first you would want to pay attention to your dab size. Induction cups tend to be smaller in diameter and height, make sure you're not attempting to vaporize a giant glob off of a tiny surface. You can either adjust your dab size or your temperature to minimize any excess waste.

Number two, check your inhalation rate. You might be pulling too hard when inhaling from your electric dab rig causing your dab to get pulled out of the induction cup and into the chamber. A giant dab and inhalation rate can both play a part when it comes to excess reclaim, so make sure you adjust these two things first.

Rapid heat up and rapid cooling can also cause reclaim build up. Make sure you are using the proper carb cap for your rig and you're getting a nice tight seal at the top so that cooling from too much airflow is at a minimum!

Keep in mind that the type of material your induction cup is made of will directly affect your dabbing experience. There are tons of different materials to choose from, like ceramic which is a low temp with slow heating type of material and SiC which works wonders with higher temps and faster heat up times! Experimenting with different materials can be fun and super fulfilling once you find one that meets your needs!

Can I Use an Induction Heater with my Nectar Collector and Titanium Nail?

This is a super interesting question, “Can you use an Induction Heater with a Nectar Collector / Titanium Nail”. The short answer is yes. However, you need to make sure the induction heater you are purchasing is large enough to fit over the dab nail you are attempting to use it with.

Using an induction dab rig to heat a titanium nail doesn't really make much sense since they usually come with their specific induction cups to begin with. But, using a device like the Ispire Wand would work perfectly. The wand has a sensor built into it so you would need to position your dab nail inside the circle chamber in a way that touches the sides.

This heating method offers precision temperature control to dabbers who prefer using a nectar collector. Bringing you a whole new level of dabbing accuracy instead of playing a guessing game using a standard dab torch!

Induction heaters will not work with quartz or ceramic nails, metal needs to be part of the equation for an induction device to work.

Which is the Best Induction Vape?

Here at E-Nail.com we have so many different induction devices to choose from, some that are designed more like a portable banger enail, and some that are designed like an electric dab rig!

The one thing all these devices have in common is the same exact heating method. You can't really go wrong with any of them! To be fair though, some devices will have some extra accessories and features like the new Dr Dabber Switch 2.

The Switch 2 stands out for its collection of accessories, like its sapphire, quartz, and titanium inserts and its 3 operating modes. Decent mode lowers the temperature by one degree per second to mimic a torch and banger experience. Ascent mode increases the temperature gradually which is perfect for cold start dabs. Lastly, there's steady mode which holds your set temperature and adjusts it based on your dab size and inhalation rate reducing any excess reclaim.

However, there are less expensive induction devices like the Ispire Daab Blitz! This device is one of my all time favorites because of its practical and intuitive design. The blitz features a housed water bubbler chamber that's protected by the body making it less susceptible to break while traveling. It's super discreet looking, smaller in size adding to its portability. This device operates with two 18650 batteries, this is an absolute game changer for those who are constantly traveling or outdoors and don't have access to a charger at all times.

The removable batteries can be charged directly through the device or using an external charger. Once they die you can simply swap them out for a fully charged pair if needed! It comes with two induction cups in case you break one or lose one and the mouthpiece is removable for easy cleaning!
