Puffco Peak Atomizer Guide
Puffco initially made a splash with the Original Puffco Peak Electric Dab Rig, recognizable by its distinctive peak-shaped glass top and sleek matte black base.
As technology progressed, Puffco released the Puffco Peak Pro and later the 3D heating atomizer.
Many assumed these newer components would be compatible with the Original Peak, but this wasn't the case.
While the glass tops are interchangeable between Peak models, the atomizers are not.
The newer Peak Pro 2 model comes with a 3D atomizer, unlike the original Peak Pro's standard atomizer.
Puffco also released a more affordable version, the New Puffco Peak, with a 3D atomizer designed exclusively for that model.
To simplify things, we've created a chart to reference!
Original Puffco Peak Atomizer
The original puffco peak atomizer is designed like most atomizers of this era. It has a screw-in bottom with a firing pin located on the end of it. The top silicone can be removed to swap out the bowl piece on the inside. The standard atomizer came with a ceramic bowl, but later down the line an aftermarket quartz bowl was introduced.
Its heating element is a wire wrapped in a circular fashion only heating the bottom of the bowl. Which means, if your dab was placed anywhere on the side walls you would have to rely on heat transfer to vaporize it.
As previously mentioned, this atomizer - or chamber - design was pretty standard and seen on a lot of different electric dab rig models introduced to the market. The beauty of this atomizer was its customizable dabbing surface, being able to switch out the bowls based on your preference of ceramic or quartz was an awesome addition to owning an e-rig of this kind.
Puffco Peak Pro Atomizer
This is where Puffco stepped up their game, the puffco peak pro atomizer features a magnetic connection to the base. Although it sounds like a small detail, the effortless connection and not having to unscrew a dirty sticky atomizer was a huge plus for some. The bowl portion of this atomizer is built in and not removable like its predecessor, so you are stuck using ceramic.
However, the peak pro atomizer was created with a temperature feedback loop to gauge the temperature of your bowl inside the atomizer. Hence precision temperature control was brought forth to electric dab rigs.
The temperature sensor embedded into the puffco peak pros atomizer allows the user to set their specific temperature on their device and have the atomizer heated to that temperature. Even after you've taken a dab and your bowl piece is still hot/warm, the sensor reads the temperature of your bowl and heats your bowl up to your desired temperature without over heating and burning through your dabs.
One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.
Puffco Peak Pro 3D Atomizer
The 3D heating Atomizer was the first of its kind, Puffco is always looking to improve their devices and they hit it on the head with this one. This atomizer was the first to have a heating element that surrounded the bottom of the bowl inside of your atomizer, and also the walls. This is where the term “3D Heating” came from, since it surrounds all sides of the atomizer providing the most heat retention and the most efficient dabbing.
Puffco’s 3D heating atomizer requires 30% less power than the stock chamber while improving each dabbing session tremendously. The magnetic connectors and the temperature feedback sensor were also integrated into this atomizer making it a massive advancement in the world of electric dab rig atomizers.
Puffco Peak Pro 3DXL Atomizer
The latest and greatest of the Puffco Peak Pro atomizers is the 3DXL chamber. This atomizer combines the two greatest features of its predecessors but is equipped with a larger bowl. At first, I thought the bigger sizing would be more of an eyesore, but puffco elegantly designed this atomizer to be aesthetically pleasing as well as effective.
Its inner chamber is 78% larger than the Puffco Peak Pro 3D chamber, however it is larger in height not in width. This is something to keep in mind when taking larger dabs. Due to its increased size, there is a larger heating element surrounding the inner bowl, therefore it provides faster heat up times and increased heat retention for back to back dabs.
Since the bottom of the atomizer is much deeper than the others, there is less air that enters that space when the carb cap is removed throughout your session. This will keep the bottom of the bowl hotter for longer periods of time, in the long run saving you time and battery life!
New Puffco Peak 3D Chamber
As the market for electric dab rigs is forever evolving, Puffco decided to release a newer less expensive upgraded version of the e-rig that started it all, called the New Puffco Peak. The new peak atomizer features a temperature sensor and the same 3D heating technology seen on the puffco peak pro atomizers, giving the original technology of the puffco peak a bit of a face lift.
This type of atomizer does not have a magnetic connection as seen on the peak pro, it is a screw in atomizer with a firing pin at the bottom similar to the original. The connector is wider than the original so unfortunately it is not compatible with the og peak.
