Portable Enail
What is the Best Portable Enail for Me?
Which portable enail is ideal for you is a matter of your own judgment in terms of dabbing style, cost, and upkeep. When making a purchase, keep the following in mind:
- Coil Construction and Upkeep: The quartz dabbing surface is standard on most portable enails available today. Crushed quartz coils are usually for short-term usage and need to be replaced often. You won't have to replace a quartz bucket for a long time, but it does require frequent cleaning.
- Features and Functions: A digital screen, haptic feedback, temperature control, and other features are available on certain portable enails. Opt for a device with a one-button interface if you simply require something straightforward and easy to operate.
- Accessories: Be sure to have coils or atomizers easily accessible! It is extremely frustrating to have a device yet unable to locate replacement coils for it.
- Device Cost: Try to find an portable enail that meets your requirements without spending above your means. One thing to bear in mind is that more expensive devices usually have lower maintenance demands.
What are Different Types of Portable Enails?
One kind of portable enail has a digital display, while the other has a single button for activation. With the help of a digital display, you can precisely adjust the temperature to suit your personal preferences and the concentrate you're working with. Conversely, having pre-set temperatures makes portable enails with a single button operation much easier to use.
How to Fix a Portable Enail?
A portable enail acts similarly to other compact electric dabbing devices. If your device blinks three times, it usually signals a short circuit, requiring you to replace the coil or tank. If it blinks five times, the device probably has a low battery and needs to be charged.

How to Use a Portable Enail?
Begin by selecting a dab rig that is compatible with your portable enail; you can learn more about this below.
You can attach your portable enail to your dab rig using the dab rig joint. Once the portable nail is in position, turn on your device and select your desired temperature. Drop your dab into the vaporizer coil, tank, or atomizer to start the heating process. Next, inhale via the mouthpiece of your dab rig!
Using a portable enail is really simple and enjoyable. For devices with a one-button operation, starting a heating cycle and selecting a temperature settings is effortless.
How to Clean a Portable Enail?
A portable enail consists of three parts: a battery, an atomizer, and a glass adapter that links it to a dab rig. We'll go over how to clean each part independently.
- Glass or Titanium Adapter
To clean your portable enail, first remove the glass adapter. Soak it in a cleaning solution, such as Dr Buzzkills' White Glove Pipe Treatment Cleaner. You can also blend water, salt, and isopropyl alcohol to create your own recipe. Soak it for around 30 minutes to release any remaining material that has developed.
After soaking, take the adapter out of the mixture and scrub its interior with a cotton swab. Then, clean the adapter using warm water and allow it to air dry.
- Getting the Atomizer Clean:
A portable enail's adapter and atomizer could get nasty. Occasionally the atomizer or coil might not look clean, making it difficult to determine whether your cleaning attempts are effective. First, remove the atomizer from the device and wipe its interior with a cotton swab soaked in iso alcohol.
Soak your atomizer in ethyl alcohol to remove any dirt or particles. Use a cotton swab to clean the inside. After that, let the atomizer or coil dry completely.
- Getting the Device Clean:
Oils and debris might accumulate in specific sections of the device as time passes, reducing its effectiveness. Clean both your portable e-nail and its air pathways. Begin by paying attention to the space around the push button and the atomizer connector.
To clean these places, soak a cotton swab in alcohol and scrape away oily substances and debris. Then, focusing on the air path, use an alcohol-soaked cotton swab or cleaning brush to cleanse the path.
Use a dry paper towel to clean down your portable enail one more, and you're ready to go!
Soaking the device, or even getting it wet, can cause damage, so avoid submerging it.
Portable Enail Frequently Asked Questions
A portable enail is a user-friendly simple dabbing device used for vaping concentrates. The word portable enail is sometimes used to describe an electric dab rig or handheld erig. We believe that a portable enail is a battery powered device that connects to a water pipe for filtration.
Some portable enails have a built-in bucket while others use coils or atomizers, there are tons of different devices to choose from. Until recently, these dabbing devices didn't have a digital display and were using conduction heating. Some of the latest portable enails use induction heating methods like the Ispire Wand.
Portable nail devices have come a long way in recent years, but how much have they changed?
Since Grav made the first "portable e-nail", portable enails haven't gotten much attention. This is partly because they need a dab rig to work, so they're not a complete dabbing solution. There have been a few attempts to create two-in-one devices that function as both a pen and a portable e-nail. However there aren't many that stand out in regards to innovation and technology.
In 2021, portable e-nail devices made more progress than in previous years, but development now seems to have stalled.
Portable enails are relatively small battery powered devices, they don't produce the same power of a torch or enail. This doesn't mean they aren't good devices, they're still efficient. However, if you're accustomed to using something more powerful you might find a portable enail lacking.
The only portable enail that comes close to using a torch and banger would be the G Pen Hyer or the Original Lookah Q7! Both of these devices use a full quartz bucket instead of crushed quartz with temperature control!
Dab pen and portable enail combo devices are great versatile devices giving you the choice between two experiences. Although, if you are looking for a specific experience it's best to go with a device made for that experience. Having a two in one sounds great in theory but one set up will always function better than the other. Or both set ups might not function to their full potential, not giving you the experience you want!
When paired with water filtration, a portable e-nail makes your experience faster, stronger, and smoother. Digital portable enails let the user change their temperature based on preferences or type of concentrate. To have more control over your experience and cloud size it’s best to use a portable e-nail with a digital display.
Dab Pens are much more portable and pocket friendly. However, they offer limited filtration options and tend to be much harsher on the throat and lungs. Most dab pens feature three preset temperature settings, except for the Focus V Aeris.
All in all, each style of dabbing device has their own pros and cons. Making a choice between the two comes down to your dabbing style and preference!
E-Nail vs. Portable E-Nail Temp Precision
- E-Nails allow precise temperature control using a controller box, letting you set the exact temp you want. The Lookah Q7 is one of the few portable E-Nails with a digital display to set your temperature, for power and performance.
E-Nail vs. Portable E-Nail Power/Efficiency
- E-Nails heat continuously, ensuring big, flavorful hits with minimal waste. Saturation rate affects efficiency, and E-Nails are more flexible because they can maintain a constant temperature. Portable E-Nails are less powerful but efficient when used correctly.
E-Nail vs. Portable E-Nail Parts & Maintenance
- E-Nails have replaceable parts, including coils and bangers, and require minimal upkeep. Portable E-Nails need more frequent maintenance, particularly coil replacements, but parts are cheaper.
E-Nail vs. Portable E-Nail Lifetime Cost
- E-Nails are a long-term investment, often lasting over a decade, saving you money in the long run. Portable E-Nails require more replacements, making them costly over time.
E-Nail vs. Portable E-Nail Portability
- E-Nails are bulky and not designed for mobility. Whereas portable E-Nails are easy to carry but require recharging.
E-Nail vs. Portable E-Nail Ease of Use
- Once set up, E-Nails are easy to use and beginner friendly. Portable E-Nails are easier to set up but may require practice to get the saturation rate right.
E-Nail vs. Portable E-Nail Safety
- E-Nails give you more control, but their exposed heating coils need careful handling. Portable E-Nails are safer because they conceal the heating element. However, you still need to be careful with lithium-ion batteries.
#1: Make sure your dab rig can handle the weight and size of your portable enail.
- You should think about how heavy your portable e-nail is, since that can cause some rigs to fall over. That is, if you have a bigger portable e-nail, don't pick a rig that is smaller and lighter overall.
#2: When it comes to concentrated hits, size does matter.
- A lot of us think that bigger pieces mean bigger rips, and this can be true with dab rigs. But in the end, smaller rigs better focus your product, which makes each hit stronger. Keep this in mind as you look for a rig.
#3: Look at the Perc
- Within your piece, there is a part called a percolator that lets water pass through to create bubbles. The bubbles filter your vapor, making your rips smoother and cleaner. Even though the filtering process makes your hits a little less powerful. They are pretty necessary because each dab hit would be way too strong without them.
You can pick from a number of different perc styles:
- Tree percolators are known for their appearance, resembling a network of tree limbs. They filter efficiently because of their design, but they're more fragile and harder to clean. We usually don't recommend tree arm percs for dabbing. They provide too much filtration and cooling which results in a lot more reclaim in your rig.
- Showerhead percolators are also super popular. They look like shower heads and have many holes in them that pull in vapor into a chamber for filtering. Showerhead percs and variations of a shower head are probably the most common percolator seen on a dab rig.
- Diffused downstem percolators have slits that face downward to help air move around your piece and create perfect sized bubbles.
- Dabbers like recycler rigs for dabbing because they use minimal water without sacrificing filtration. It keeps your vapors from cooling too much, reduced cooling means less reclaim and waste!
- Glass Recycler Dab Rigs filters your vapors using its two chambers. Inhaling draws water into the top chamber through the intake tube then the water flows back to the bottom chamber after you cease inhaling. A two-chamber design lets each rip circulate throughout the piece boosting filtration for ultimate clean dabs.
#4: Choose a Dab Rig that Checks Every Box
Dab rigs come in different materials, so it's worth thinking about which one you'd like to purchase for a few reasons. You can pick a material based on how long it will last and preference:
- Silicone rigs are hard to break and have a non-stick surface for that reason they're great for dabbing.
- Glass dab rigs will keep your flavors cleaner and offer better filtration with more intricate percs.
#5: Think About Using More Than One Rig
- Remember, you don’t have to stick with just one rig. You might want a bigger one for home and a smaller, portable one for hanging out at a friend's place. Having a collection of dab rigs lets you enjoy a variety of dabbing experiences depending on the piece.
