Enail Coil FAQ
What is an Enail Coil?
An enail coil is a heating element that connects to the enail controller on one end and the quartz banger or dab nail on the other. The metal coil at the end wraps around the dab nail or quartz banger, allowing it to be heated safely, rapidly, and effectively for dabbing.
If you're used to dabbing with an electric dab rig, think of the enail coil as a small piece of metal wiring inside an atomizer that heats your bucket/insert to the appropriate temperature. If you prefer the traditional method of dabbing with a quartz banger and torch, consider using an enail coil as the "torch" in your setup.
Enail coils are made up of four parts: a heavy-duty metal-wrapped wire on one end, a fireproof sheath to protect the internal wires, and an xlr socket on the other end for connecting to an enail controller box. Most standard enail coils include an xlr connector with five unique pins labeled 1-5.
How do Electric Heating Coils Work?
Once plugged into the controller box and turned on, the user can change the temperature of the coil by selecting the desired temperature on the controller box. The e-nail controller sends power to the heating coil, which causes it to heat up. The coil is connected to a dab nail or quartz banger, which is then heated by the coil to the desired temperature.
Help Me Understand Enail Coil Sizing
When you choose an enail coil size, you are also selecting the size of the quartz banger or dab nail. Your enail coil size should almost always match the size of your crystal banger or dab nail. To establish the ideal coil size for you, you must first identify which banger size is suitable for you. This can be established by determining your preferred dab size. The appropriate coil size for each dab size is listed below.
20mm Enail Coil or Banger Size:Dab Capacity: 0.05-0.2 g
- The 20mm enail coil is often the smallest size available for an enail. This size is ideal for novices, those who prefer lower dab sizes, people with limited lung capacity, or those who cough when using larger dabs. The lower coil size has various advantages, including the ability to quickly heat the banger or dab nail, as well as being efficient and delicious for small dabs. The disadvantages of this smaller size are a lesser dab size capacity and relatively fewer banger insert options. inserts.
25mm Enail Coil or Banger Size:Dab Capacity: 0.10–0.30g
- The 25mm enail coil size is the most popular for a reason: the dab size capacity of a 25mm quartz banger is the most frequent size among dabbers. Because of its popularity, banger insert and carb options are the most available, allowing for maximum personalization. It provides a good combination of heat retention and concentrate capacity, making it popular among dabbers. Many inserts can be used to increase personalization and efficiency.
30mm Enail Coil/Banger Size:Dab Capacity: 0.20–0.40g
- The 30mm coil is great for individuals who prefer somewhat larger dabs. When enjoying larger dabs, using a smaller diameter banger causes the dab to flood, preventing even heating, causing extra reclaim, and taking longer to evaporate. 30mm Bangers have numerous carb cap and insert options. Unlike 25mm bangers, where the proper terp pearl size is 6mm with a maximum of two, the 30mm banger allows for up to four 6mm terp pearls.
35mm Enail Coil or Banger Size:Dab Capacity: 0.30-0.50 g
- The largest regularly used banger for an enail is 35mm in diameter. It is used for quite large dabs, which are ideal for group sessions or massive solo dabs. It takes longer to heat up, but once heated, it delivers a powerful punch. With the freedom to employ any insert, the customization options are limitless. Choosing the proper carb cap is critical for this banger to achieve your desired vapor to air ratio, as larger carb caps have more airflow, which dilutes the vapor. This banger size also necessitates a higher lung capacity when used for solo performances.
What are the differences between nail coils: flat coils, axial coils, and barrel coils?
Flat nail coil: Flat coils were popular several years ago as a versatile alternative for use with any banger or nail style, but they were most commonly utilized with hybrid dab nails. As the construction of enail coils has evolved, they have reduced in favor. Other coils give a more accurate fit to every form of dabbing receptacle, whether titanium enails or bucket bangers. These upgraded coils provide greater surface area coverage, resulting in faster and more intense heating. Available size: 26mm.
Axial Enail Coil: The bucket-style axial coil warms the underside and sides of titanium or hybrid nails and bangers. An axial coil has unrivaled surface area coverage, with some coils consisting of six or more vertical wraps. This tall design covers the majority of the banger's bucket, providing fast, even, and constant heating throughout the banger. The axial coil design is by far the most popular, and it is suitable for any size dab, with diameters ranging from 20mm to 35mm. Available in 20mm, 25mm, 30mm, and 35mm diameters.
Barrel Enail Coil: The barrel coil is similar to the axial coil except that it lacks bottom wrapping. The barrely style enail coil is paired with titanium nails or bucket bangers and a side arm to hold the barrel coil in place, as an o-clamp cannot be used because there is no bottom coil wrap to hold up. Barrel coils provide a distinct advantage for dabbers who prefer smaller dab sizes or have limited lung capacity. The axial coil heats the entire banger, including the bottom and sides, while the barrel coil simply heats the sides. This means that if someone takes little inhalations and does not finish the entire dab, the dab will not be vaporized as quickly as if coil wraps were heating the bottom of the bucket. The barrel coil comes in two sizes: 8mm and 10mm, which are utilized with nectar collectors to heat up the titanium nail for the most spectacular nectar collector dab you've ever had. Available in 8mm, 10mm, 20mm, and 25mm diameters.
Terp Slurper Enail Coil: The Terp Slurper Enail Coil is essentially an axial coil with fewer vertical wraps. Terp Slurper bangers are one of the most popular banger forms due to its superior flavor and terpene ingestion potential. Unlike bucket bangers or dab nails, terp slurper bangers include airflow from the bottom dish, forcing air through the dab as inhaled, allowing for maximum taste and terpene intake. The terp slurper coil wraps around the bottom of the dish up to the height of the dish, but does not exceed the height to provide for appropriate space for the dab tool and dab to be placed on the dish without coming into touch with the enail coil. Available in 25mm, 30mm, and 35mm diameters.
Hybrid Enail Coil: A hybrid coil is similar to an axial coil, but it has fewer vertical wraps than a terp slurper coil, usually only one or two. It is compatible with hybrid nails. The coil completely covers the bottom of the dish but just partly covers the wall, allowing a carb cap to be placed on the titanium or quartz dish. Available in 25mm, 30mm, and 35mm diameters.
Can any Enail Coil be paired with any Controller Box?
Most enail coils have a similar appearance. They may have the same xlr plug with 5 pins on the bottom, but just because they appear the same does not guarantee that they will function with your enail controller box.
When the pin configurations on the controller and coil are mismatched, your display screen will most likely display an error code (EEEE). The reason pin placement is so important is that each pin represents a distinct function. In other cases, the coil may heat up but the temperature may not register appropriately. It is therefore critical to connect the coil with the same brand controller box or to guarantee that the pin configuration is appropriate for the controller box.
One pin may control power, and another may control temperature. When a pin designated for a specific function is placed into the wrong slot on your controller box, your enail coil will not work properly. We make every effort to define the coil pin configuration for each controller box and enail coil offered on our website.
Most enail brands will make all of their enail coils with the same pin configuration, so if you know what brand your controller box is, you're in luck! A fast search can provide you the results you need.
Enail Coil Frequently Asked Questions:
You can measure the size of your enail coil using everyday household items! When measuring your enail coil keep in mind that you are measuring the inside diameter of the coil not the outside.
- A 20mm coil should be the same size of a penny.
- A 25mm coil should be the same size as a quarter.
- A 30mm coil should be the same size of a soda bottle cap.
- A 35mm coil should be the same size of a silver dollar.
You can use the same measuring method to check the size of your quartz banger if you no longer have your enail coil available! When measuring the banger you are to measure the bangers outside diameter.
Using an enail coil correctly is pretty simple, first you would want to determine the type of banger you have and the type of coil you have. If you have a banger with a side arm then you most likely have a barrel coil. Once the coil is positioned on the banger you maneuver the coil wire over the arm so that it is held in place.
A quartz banger that has a rod sticking out from the bottom is usually paired with an axial coil. The coil goes over the banger and the rod is positioned into the hole that is in the middle of the axial coil. An o-clamp or cotter pin is fastened to the quartz rod to hold the enail coil in place.
A titanium nail or hybrid nail can have one of three setups, they can either be paired with a barrel coil or a flat coil or an axial coil. The top dish of the titanium or hybrid nail should screw off of the titanium body of the nail. The coil should be fastened beneath the dish and the body should be screwed back on to hold it in place.
Once your enail coil is attached to your dab nail or banger you can connect it to your controller box and your dab rig. You should be good to go from there!
You can use your hands or a needle nose plier to make slight diameter adjustments to your enail coil. Gently push onto the straight "arm" section of the enail coil to make its diameter smaller. To loosen your enail coil you can use this same method but continue pulling outwards! When using needle nose pliers it's important not to damage the coil, so wrapping the pliers in rubber or some other material that will prevent the coil finish from being ruined is important.
