What is an E-Nail Coil?

An Enail Coil is part of an enail kit which attaches to the controller box to heat a quartz banger or dab nail to the user's desired temperature. It is designed to act as the “torch” within your dab set up.

What Does an Enail Coil Look Like?

An Enail Coil is usually made up of 4 parts, one end will have a heavy duty metal wire wrapped in a circular form. The metal wire is connected to cord which is made up of wires and a fire proof sheath. The cord then connects to an xlr plug which can either be male or female.

Is It Safe to Touch My Enail Coil?

It is not safe to touch an enail coil while it is hot or heating up to temperature. It is still not safe to touch after a heating cycle is finished. Please wait until the enail heater coil has completely cooled down to room temperature, which can take anywhere from a couple of minutes to fifteen minutes.

How Does an Enail Coil Heat Up a Dab Nail?

Once the controller box is set to a specific temperature, the controller box pushes out power/electricity to produce heat in the enail coil's metal wire. This method will heat an enail coil to a precise temperature.

What are the Different Types of Enail Coils?

There are a few different enail coils styles to choose from, they will vary based on what type of banger or nail the user is attempting to attach it to.

  • Axial Enail Coil - This type of enail coil almost resembles a bucket with the wire wrapping the bottom and some of the side walls of a quartz banger. Axial Enail Coils are meant for quartz bangers that have a flat bottom followed by a stem to secure the enail coil to. This style of coil can also be used with “Deep Dish” Nails both quartz and titanium, and it can also be used with a Terp Slurper Enail Banger but it is not ideal.
  • Barrel Enail Coil - This type of enail coil looks like a perfect circle when looked at from above. Barrel Enail Coils look similar to axial enail coils however, they do not have the wire wrapped at the bottom to look like a bucket. The bottom and the top of this coil is completely opened to accommodate titanium nails and quartz bangers that have an enail coil holder added/arm built into the side of its neck to secure the enail coil to.
  • Flat Enail Coil - This type of enail coil looks exactly how it sounds, it's completely flat. The wire is wrapped in a circular form but it does not extend upwards like the axial enail coil or the barrel enail coil. Its flat design is ideal for titanium or hybrid nails that have a shorter dish at the top. Flat Enail Coils can also be used with Terp Slurper Enail Bangers however it is not ideal.
  • Terp Slurper Enail Coil - This type of enail coil looks similar to an Axial Enail Coil however it does not have as many wire wraps to scale upward the banger walls. This enail coil is ideal for Terp Slurper Enail Bangers because the wire does not hang above the bottom dish. Instead it wraps around the dish perfectly so that there is less chance of your dab touching the hot wire before making it onto the terp dish, minimizing waste. Axial Enail Coils typically have 6 wraps while Terp Slurper Enail Coils will have 3-4 wraps. This style of coil is meant to be used with a Terp Slurper Enail Banger that has a flat bottom accompanied by a stem where the coil is secured in place. It can also be used with titanium or hybrid nails that are not considered to be “Deep Dish” Nails.
  • Hybrid Enail Coil - This type of enail coil is a cross between an Axial Enail Coil and a Flat Enail Coil, it is distinguishable by the amount of wire wraps scaling upwards. The Terp Slurper Enail Coil is a type of Hybrid Enail Coil but this is just one of many, instead of 3-4 wraps you might find a Hybrid Enail Coil with just 2 wraps to fit and heat its designated dabbing accessory correctly.
  • Nectar Collector Enail Coil - This type of enail coil closely resembles a barrel enail coil but with a smaller diameter so that it can be attached to a nectar collector nail. This style of coil is meant to be used with nectar collector nails ONLY, they are not compatible with any other banger/nail. Nectar Collector Enail Coils are secured safely onto certain styles of nectar collector nails, some people will use an o-clamp to secure this coil in place but it is not recommended.

What are the Different Enail Coil Sizes? Why Do Different Enail Coil Sizes Matter?

There are a few different enail coil sizes to choose from, you would want to choose a size designated to fit the dab nail or quartz banger you are looking to attach it to.

  • 8mm Nectar Collector Enail Coil - Barrel Coil
  • 10mm Nectar Collector Enail Coil - Barrel Coil
  • 10mm Flat Enail Coil
  • 16mm Barrel Enail Coil
  • 16mm Axial Enail Coil
  • 20mm Barrel Enail Coil
  • 20mm Axial Enail Coil
  • 25mm Axial Enail Coil
  • 25mm Terp Slurper Enail Coil - Hybrid Enail Coil
  • 26mm Flat Enail Coil
  • 30mm Axial Enail Coil
  • 30mm Terp Slurper Enail Coil - Hybrid Enail Coil
  • 35mm Axial Enail Coil

How Long Can I Leave My Enail Coil On For? Why Do Enail Coils Go Bad?

  • You should always turn your enail controller off when you are done using it so that your enail coil does not get burnt out prematurely, also for fire safety reasons.
  • The lifespan of an enail coil depends on the quality of material used to manufacture it. They should last anywhere from 6 months to 1 year, however the small wires may loosen up over time through using it, maneuvering it around. Or the thermocouple can go bad over time, you might start to notice the temperature is fluctuating rapidly producing inaccurate coil readings. This usually indicates that it is time for a new coil.

How Does an E-nail Coil Heater Attach to a Quartz Banger or Dab Nail?

To connect a 25mm Enail Coil to a Quartz Banger, first place the banger into the coil. Then holding both the coil and the banger together, maneuver the o clamp to have its flat side up to the coil bottom. Make sure the prongs are in line with the small opening at the bottom of the coil so that your banger isnt sitting lopsided inside the coil. Squeeze the prongs on the clamp to enlarge it, place it over/around the bottom stem of the banger.

To attach a 25mm Enail Coil to a Titanium Nail, first make sure it is a "Deep Dish" Titanium nail like the one shown in the video below. Start by unscrewing the middle screw that attaches the dish and the titanium body together. Once the screw is removed, place the titanium dish inside the 25mm coil. Place the screw back through its designated place on the dish and line up the titanium nail body with the screw. Begin to screw the body and the nail together to hold the coil and titanium dish in place.

What is Enail Coil Pin Setup? Why Does Enail Pin Setup Matter?

  • An Enail Coil has an xlr plug at one end of it, either male or female. The most common type of enail coil xlr plug will usually contain anywhere from 3-5 pins inside of it. Each of these pins connect to the controller box for a specific function. One pin will produce power to the coil while the other is responsible for measuring temperature. Pin Setup is important information to know when purchasing an enail coil because if the wiring of an enail coil is not compatible with a controller box, the controller will send power to the incorrect wires inside the coil causing it to malfunction. Typically this will produce an “EEEE” code on your controller box display or sometimes connecting the two will cause the coil to heat up to a dangerously high temperature and damage it permanently.
  • Most Enail Brands will produce enail coils that are cross compatible with different controller boxes that they manufacture, when it comes to purchasing an enail coil brand that is different from your controller box is when it can start to get tricky.
  • If you are unsure of which enail coil is compatible with your enail controller box please refer to our Enail Coil Pin Setup Blog, you can also contact us through our live chat with any additional questions.

Where Can I Buy an Enail Coil Replacement?

You can purchase any enail coil style, type, or brand to replace your existing enail coil as long as the pin setup matches up to your controller box.
