Why is my electric nectar collector clogged?
Why is my electric nectar collector clogged?
An electric nectar collector could become clogged for a variety of reasons. All of which are fairly simply to fix, in this blog we will discuss the possible causes for an electric nectar collector to become clogged, the ways to unclog and electric nectar collector, and ways to prevent clogging from taking place to begin with.
Some possible causes include:
* Residue buildup: If you have been using your nectar collector for a while and have not cleaned it regularly, residue from the wax or concentrate may have built-up in the coil (heating element) or vapor path, blocking the airflow and preventing the nectar collector from functioning properly.
* Inhaling too sharply: sucking up concentrates into the vapor path without allowing the coil to fully vaporize the concentrates can clog the vapor path, this may not be noticeable during the dab, but only after once the concentrates have cooled.
* Dirty tip: If you have been using your nectar collector with dirty concentrates, or leaving the coil uncovered, dirt may get inside the tip, clogging the vapor path of the electric nectar collector.
* Over-saturating the coil: if an electric nectar collector coil is over-saturated and concentrates are sucked up into the vapor path, the electric nectar collector will eventually clog.
* Not cleaning the device regularly: keeping your electric nectar collector clean to begin with will let you get the most out of each dab, use the device when it's fully charged and always keep in mind the coil saturation rate vs the coil vaporization rate.
* Using materials that are too thick or sticky, which are not being heated to the proper temperature can cause clogging of an electric nectar collector.
* Foreign substance, it could just be a piece of dirt, hey, it happens.
How to unclog an electric nectar collector?
To unclog an electric nectar collector, try the following:
*When the issue is the electric nectar collector coil, it is recommended to run a heating cycle, and either slowly inhale or tap the tip against a silicone jar or mat to allow the excess oil, once heated, to fall out.
* Disassemble the device and clean all the components with one of our electric nectar collector cleaning kits, starting from less than $8 up to our $80 connoisseur electric nectar collector cleaning kit.
*Soak the cleaning bristle brush with iso-shine, pass the cleaning brush through the vapor path of the electric nectar collector. Depending upon how clogged the device is, and with what, a significant amount of reclaim may come out from the device, that reclaim can still be used.
*An easy at home solution (ha pun intended) is isopropyl alcohol and a cleaning bristle. Use a cleaning brush or pipe cleaner to remove any residue or debris from the vapor path. Dip the cleaning brush or cotton swab into isopropyl alcohol for the most effective cleaning.
How to prevent clogging an electric nectar collector?
* Understand coil saturation rate vs coil vaporization rate and learn how to properly take a dab with an electric nectar collector. Do not over-saturate the coil. Only allow the amount of concentrates that can be momentarily vaporized to touch the coil. Any additional concentrates , additional coil saturation, which can be caused via dipping instead of edging the concentrates, will cause additional reclaim, eventually resulting in clogging.
* Adjust your inhalation rate. Sucking too fast on the device, pulling too hard, will not get you a milkier dab, if you are looking for big clouds, allow the concentrates to completely vaporize. When pulling too hard the concentrates will not fully vaporize and excess reclaim will get sucked up into the vapor path, once cooled, it can easily clog. Initially a clog caused by excess reclaim will show up as an occasional clog which if inhaled strongly enough, can unclog the excess reclaim temporarily. Eventually the excess reclaim may narrow the vapor path, making the dabber feel as if they are having to suck harder, and causing additional waste due to inefficient airflow.
* Make sure to use the appropriate power settings, with a fully charged device for the appropriate materials. E.g. diamonds vs shatter.
* Coil changing, having a clean fresh electric nectar collector coil will always result in the best dabs, preventing clogging.
* Regular cleaning is essential to keep your electric nectar collector in good working condition.
* If clog has been caused by debris, keeping the electric nectar collector inside a zipper case or storage box is recommended. At a minimum keep both ends covered.
* If the clog is caused by using materials that are too thick or sticky, you may want to try using a different type of concentrate or wax.
