What temperature should I set my enail to? Enail Temperature Guide
What temperature should I set my enail to?
Congratulations!
You’ve finally made the right decision in purchasing an enail. Your dabs will taste better, be more efficient and effective. Allowing you to achieve your desired dabbing results with the appropriate amount of concentrates and no waste, saving you megabucks!
Choosing the best temperature for your enail is crucial to enjoying your experience and consuming your concentrates with little to no waste.
Set the enail too hot, and you’re in for a nasty surprise, if the dab itself doesn’t cause you to cough your guts up, seeing what your banger looks like after the dab, just may.
Set the enail temp too low and you’re sure to be underwhelmed. There is a difference between a low-temp dab and a dab that is just too low temp. The clouds will be disappointing, if existing, and the concentrates will merely pool in the banger or nail, leaving a mess without the success of a satisfactory dab.
So what dab temperature should you be dabbing at?
In general, proper dabbing temperature begins at 450 Degrees Fahrenheit and goes up to 700 Degrees Fahrenheit. Now finding the temperature that you enjoy within that range can be a bit tricky.
When dabbing with an enail the temperature will remain constant throughout the dab, unlike with a dab torch and dab rig setup. So with an e-nail, if the dab starts off hot, it will end hot as well.
For those looking for a low-temp dab experience, it is our recommendation to begin the personal trials with a beginning dab temperature of 450 Degrees. Be sure to allow sufficient time for the banger to reach that temperature. Typically 30 seconds to a minute after the coil has reached the set temperature, the banger will also reach the set temperature. After trying a dab at 450, if you find that to not be strong enough, it’s recommended to raise the temperature in increments of 25 Degrees until you find your sweet spot.
For those looking for a medium-temp dab experience, it is our recommendation to begin the personal trials at 550 Degrees Fahrenheit. Be sure to allow sufficient time for the banger to reach that temperature. Typically 30 seconds to a minute after the coil has reached the set temperature, the banger will also reach the set temperature. After trying a dab at 550, if you find that to not be strong enough or too strong, it’s recommended to raise or lower the temperature in increments of 10 Degrees until you find your sweet spot.
For those looking for a high-temp dab experience, it is our recommendation to begin the personal trials at 600 Degrees Fahrenheit. Be sure to allow sufficient time for the banger to reach that temperature. Typically 30 seconds to a minute after the coil has reached the set temperature, the banger will also reach the set temperature. After trying a dab at 600, if you find that to not be strong enough or too strong, it’s recommended to raise or lower the temperature in increments of 10 Degrees until you find your sweet spot.
Whether it be a high-temp, mid-temp or low-temp dab, using an enail will allow you to achieve your exact desired temperature, it’s now up to you to figure out which temperature suits you best.
Finding the proper equilibrium between the banger vaporization rate and its saturation rate is the key to an enjoyable dab. Think of it like a hot pot or pan, depending on the temp of the pan, if you place a drop of water in, it will vaporize immediately, place loads of water in, and it will take time, resulting in less vapor.
Inhalation Capacity
On the other hand you also need to factor in your inhalation capacity, lower temperatures will vaporize your dab more slowly than a higher temperature. If you find yourself inhaling for 30 seconds and your dab is still vaporizing and you need to take a break to exhale and inhale again, you might want to adjust your temperature slightly higher. The slightly higher temperature will allow you to consume your entire dab within those 30 seconds, without taking a break and potentially letting your vapors escape and go to waste!
Harshness vs. Smoothness
The second thing to consider when choosing your enail temperature is the harshness or the smoothness of your dabs. This is strictly based on your personal preference, some people enjoy those harder hitting dabs and some people have limitations, especially medical patients.
As I'm sure you can guess, lower temperature dabs tend to be much smoother than high temperature dabs. There are plenty of mitigating factors, such as the dab rig you are using with your enail set up. Even though your enail might be set to a higher temperature the extra water filtration provided by a dab rig, such as a recycler, can tone down the harshness of your dabs making them much more enjoyable.
Pay attention to your percolators! If you are using a smaller sized dab rig with little filtration and very little water your dabs will tend to be much harsher, due to the higher temperature of the vapor. Especially when compared to a medium sized rig, using minimal water, but with maximum filtration from its percolators.
Cannabinoid and Terpenes
Cannabinoid and Terpene content of your concentrates directly impacts your high and provides a different flavor and experience. Terpenes as well as cannabinoids are activated at certain temperatures and they are also destroyed at certain temperatures. If taste and the effects of your dabs are important to you, starting at a lower enail dabbing temperature would be best.
When it comes to dabbing, trying out different degrees of temperature with your enail dab kit can lead to some really fun experiences! The low-temperature range, from 420 to 475°F, is perfect for those who enjoy the subtle flavors of terpenes in their dabs. This range works particularly well for extracts that are high in aromatic compounds, as they evaporate within 270 and 390°F. Dabbing less than 450 degrees using an electric nail brings out the full flavor and contributes to a nice, gradual high.
At 400 Degrees, terpene vaporization shines, offering a tasty dab with a gentle high. Raising it to 450 degrees finds a nice middle ground between vapor and preserving those lovely terpenes. Bringing bold flavor and clear psychoactive effects to the table. A lot of dabbers like to stick to a mid-range dab temp of about 500 - 550 degrees. This temperature is just right for anyone looking for a more harmonious experience.
When you heat it to 500 degrees, you'll enjoy a burst of flavor and effective vaporization, leading to a balanced and quick high. When the temperature rises over 550 degrees, your vapor becomes thicker. However, this can result in a degradation of some terpenes, while the psychoactive properties become more noticeable!
Cannabinoids engage with receptors that are in our bodies that are found in the nervous system itself. One popular cannabinoid is Delta 9 THC, the psychoactive one that you encounter when dabbing! Other cannabinoids, such as the ones we've talked about, produce various responses in the body's nervous system. Some cannabinoids can be really helpful for anxiousness, inflammatory conditions, managing pain, and so much more!

Dab Size
Your enail dabbing temperature MUST be adjusted according to the size of your dabs. If you are attempting to vaporize a massive dab at a lower temperature, you will do nothing except disappoint yourself and waste your concentrates! The same rule applies to smaller sized dabs at a high temperature, you'll end up burning through your dab before you get a chance to inhale!
