Ultimate Guide to Lookah 710 Coils: Types, Tips & Best Picks (2026)
What are Dragon Egg Coils? (Lookah 710 Coils)
The Lookah Dragon Egg is a mini portable electric dab rig, named after its egg-like/capsule shape. This mini rig is used with coils called the Lookah 710 coils. Lookah made these coils cross compatible with a bunch of different devices, like the unicorn mini, the seahorse x portable enail, the Q7 mini, the swordfish, lookah ant, python dab pen, and even the dinosaur electric dab rig. There are 5 different 710 coil options available and they all function in a different way!
With any sort of electric dabbing device, the coil/atomizer is the secret sauce to your dabbing experience. The coil is what provides enough heat to your dabbing surface to vaporize your concentrates. For devices like electric dab rigs, dab pens, and portable enails, the coil is composed of the wire heating element and your dabbing area. The material of your coil and your coil design will determine the amount of airflow, the taste of your dabs, temperature and more.
Unfortunately, all coils need to be replaced over time, if you are a frequent user you would need to replace your lookah 710 coils more often than other types of coils/atomizers because of its crushed quartz surface. Over time your wax will harden around the little spaces in between the quartz making each dab taste a bit burnt with reduced airflow.
Why Choosing The Right 710 Coil Matters?
All the 710 coils have a very different design providing a very different experience. TheType B coil heats to higher temperature so that you'll get larger clouds. However the taste of your dabs may not be comparable to the flavor you'll get when using a Type A coil. The Type A coil gives you tons of airflow with its airflow holes encircling the entire dabbing surface, but increased airflow isn't everyone's cup of tea. Bringing forth the Type C coil and later on Lookah added the Type D coil into the mix.
Types of Lookah 710 Coils - Dragon Egg Coils - Your Full Breakdown
Lookah 710 Type A Coil - Quartz Dish
The Lookah Type A coil gets its name from the round dish at the bottom, which is made of crushed quartz. In case you were asking, this is not a bucket-style atomizer. It is actually called a "coil-less" atomizer, which means that your wax does not come into direct contact with the heating element.
The Lookah Quartz Dish has a rough surface that sticks to your sticky extracts right away so they can be vaporized. In comparison to the rest of the 710 coils, this one has a wider surface area that lets you take bigger dabs. The wider surface also lets you heat your wax more uniformly. The Type A Coil has air flow holes located around the edges of the quartz dish. This lets more air to circulate when you inhale, giving you the huge hits and milky clouds.
Lookah 710 Type B Coil - Dual Hole
The Lookah Dual Hole Quartz is also made of crushed quartz with a rough surface where your wax sticks, and absorbs into right away. This coil also has two holes at the bottom that let your wax reach elevated temperatures way faster than the other coil options.
Since this type of coil shoots to higher temps pretty fast you can expect those heavier types of rips. They might not taste the very best but they are without a doubt lung busters. These are definitely for those that prefer more of a punch when they dab!
Lookah 710 Type C Coil - Square Quartz
The Lookah 710 Square Plate Quartz Coil (Type C) is often called the "wax saver" by Lookah, and for good reason. It is designed to maximize your concentrates with its smaller square surface area. This coil features crushed quartz at the bottom and includes an open airflow hole along the side, ensuring steady inhales.
When you look closer at the type c coil, you can see there is a wall that keeps the airflow hole free from wax. This prevents clogging and stops your melted dab from leaking down into the base of the coil. Its dabbing surface area is much smaller than what you see on the Type A coil so be cautious with your dab size to make sure your coil can handle it!
Lookah 710 Type D Coil - See Through
Similar to the Type B coil, the Lookah See Through Quartz includes two holes at the bottom that allow your wax to reach higher temperatures much more quickly when dabbing.
Like the Seahorse V coil, this coil is composed of both crushed and clear quartz. It still has the "soaking" problem that comes with crushed quartz because its primary dabbing surface is.. well you guessed it.. crushed quartz.
This coil's transparent quartz depends on heat transfer from the bottom of the coil. Don't expect a longer-lasting coil because it is unlikely that the transparent quartz will get hot enough to dab off of; instead, the clear portion acts more like an opening to view your dabs. You can anticipate those heavier varieties of dabs because this kind of coil quickly reaches higher temperatures. They are undoubtedly for people who want to dab with extra power!
Lookah 710 Quartz Coils - The In’s and Out’s of Crushed Quartz
Quartz can take on high levels of heat and heat up to temperature pretty quickly. Quartz looks similar to glass, it's clear, with the same weight and feel as glass. Crushed quartz is a little bit different from standard quartz like you would see on a banger, it's made up of thousands of tiny quartz pieces fused together.
Crushed quartz will give you flavors close to using regular quartz, but as previously mentioned, the small open spots between the crushed quartz fill up with wax. This material is super porous, absorbing your melted dab before vaporizing it. Throughout your sessions the absorbed wax builds up and hardens compromising the taste of your dabs, leading to a replacement.
Hybrid Coils - Crushed Quartz and Clear Quartz
This is only specific to the Type D coil since it is both crushed quartz and clear quartz, similar to the Seahorse V coil. Its main dabbing surface is still crushed quartz so it also has the “seeping” issue you'll always get with crushed quartz, which eventually causes your dabs to taste gross. The clear quartz is reliant on heat transfer from the bottom of the coil. It is unlikely that the clear quartz will get to a hot enough temperature to dab off of, so don't count on a longer lasting coil, the clear section serves more as a “window” to your dabs.
Which Lookah 710 Coil Should You Choose?
Comparison Chart
Best Lookah 710 Coil - Dragon Egg Coil - Our Pick!
Our top selling coil is hands down the Type A Quartz Dishcoil, this is the standard option that comes with all lookah devices that use a 710 coil. The second best seller is the type c coil. Both of these coils are centered around airflow instead of high temps, they provide better flavor overall!
Common Mistakes Ruin Your 710 Lookah Coil
- The most important part to using a 710 coil correctly is, do not flood your coil. These coils are smaller in size and they cannot take on massive sized dabs. Make sure you are using a reasonably sized wax glob to avoid oil leaking into your device causing a sticky mess.
- Keep in mind, oil leaking into your device will cause it to break! Flooding your coil will also cause your coil to go out quickly, this significantly reduces its lifespan.
- Just like the seahorse coils, running back to back sessions will cause the wire heating element inside the coil to over heat and sometimes it'll snap. Make sure your coil isn't burning hot when running another heating cycle.
- You should run a dry heating cycle before you use your coil to get rid of any manufacturing chemicals. You should run another dry heating cycle when you're done with your session to remove any leftover wax from your coil!
How To Use Lookah 710 Coils Properly
Step By Step
- Screw the 710 coil onto your device, making sure it is screwed on properly and the threading isn't off. You would be able to tell if the threading is off by checking to see if your coil is lopsided.
- Once the 710 coil is secured onto your device, you can initiate a dry heating cycle to remove any manufacturing debris off of the coil.
- From this point you can load your dab onto your tool and into your 710 coil.
- Initiate a heating cycle so that your dab is vaporized.
- When you are done with your session, run one more dry heating cycle to remove any excess residue from the quartz.
How To Clean Your Lookah 710 Coils
Quick Cleaning:
- You can perform a light cleaning by running a dry cycle.
- Then pass a swab dipped in alcohol across the crushed quartz to remove residue.
- Make sure your coil is completely dry before using it again.
Deep Cleaning:
- For a deeper, more thorough cleaning, you can remove the coil from your device after its cool to the touch.
- Place the coil inside of a basin submerged in iso or ethyl alcohol.
- Allow the coils to soak for at least an hour.
- After the oils inside your coil have loosened up, you can use a cotton swab dipped in alcohol to remove whatever extra oils you might see around the coil.
- Rinse the coils with water, this helps to remove the alcohol from the tiny cracks inside the crushed quartz.
- Let the coil dry completely before attempting to use it again.
How Long Do 710 Coils Last
The lifespan of your coil depends on how often you use it, and how you treat it. For someone that is a frequent user, obviously they would have to replace their coil more often than someone that uses their dragon egg on occasion. You can expect to replace your coil once per week as a frequent user, and around once every 2-3 weeks for a not so frequent user.
Your cleaning habits also play a crucial role in your coil's lifespan. You would want to complete the cleaning steps above before you use your coil and when your sessions are done for the day to maximize its effectiveness and prolong to taste.
When and How to Replace Your Lookah 710 Coil
- The first sign that it is time for a new coil is the taste, if you're consistently getting a burnt taste after each dab it's probably best to swap it out for a new one.
- Your second tell is airflow, if the airflow is off every time you take a hit from your device and your devices airpaths are pretty clean, then it's most likely that your coil is caked up with hardened wax. Toss it out and replace it with a new one!
- If your coil is super dark in color, like close to looking black. Your coil most likely needs to be replaced. The color of your coil will change over time after the wax residues get burnt into the coil.
Quick Replacement Steps:
- These coils are threaded at the bottom, make sure your coil is cool to the touch before unscrewing it from your device and screwing the new one on.
