How to Use an Electric Dab Rig
Electric dab rigs are proving to be enormously valuable to anyone who enjoys vaping with concentrates and is looking for a way to ensure more consistency in terms of vapor output, flavor, and overall functionality. Electric dab rigs are easier to find than ever before, and models range from user-friendly and simple to high-tech and advanced, with loads of features. Essentially, using an e-dab rig can change your dabbing life for the better in a number of ways, but you can only enjoy this type of system if you know how to use it correctly.
Any electric dab rig should come with a user manual that walks you through the exact methods for operating them. However, it’s also good to have a general knowledge of how to use this type of equipment before you invest in one, so that you can understand what’s involved should you go ahead and grab one.
Electric Dab Rigs vs. Analog Dab Rigs
Electric dab rigs, obviously, use electricity to provide power to the device and vaporize your concentrates, rather than an external source of heat like you’d find with traditional dab rigs.
Electric dab rigs use an internal heating element to flash-vaporize your concentrates, and they almost always come with various power settings so that you can adjust the heat as desired, to bring out different qualities in your dabs, such as flavor, vapor output and overall potency of the compounds you value. Many people are finding that they prefer electric dab rigs because they offer more control. They ensure consistent temperature output with each hit, unlike analog dab rigs that can vary with output based on how long you apply heat, the heat source output and more.
Using an Electric Dab Rig: What to Know
Ultimately, it’s best to consult the user manual as you can learn more about features unique to a specific device and understand how to operate a specific device as safely and efficiently as possible. This guide below covers general information about how to use an electronic dab rig.
Step #1: Set Up Your Dabbing Space
You need a flat and even surface so that the rig does not tip over, as this can lead to the loss of some of your product, or even a broken rig. The surface should not contain any flammable components of any kind as this can be dangerous.
Step #2: Make Sure Your Device, Nail, and Plug are Set Up and Ready to Go
The dab rig should contain the proper amount of water according to its size and the manufacturer’s directions. You should have your dabber and carb cap ready to go as well, and all of your hardware should be clean.
Step #3: Removing the Top of Your E-Nail
Here is where you will place the top inside of the coil before reattaching it. Now, you can attach your nail to your dab rig, making sure that it’s properly secure.
Step #4: Plug in Your Device and Then Attach the Coil
Turn the device on and set your temperature as desired. Note: For beginners, it can take a while to find the right temperature as everyone has a unique sweet spot. We recommend starting with the lowest temperature and adjusting it slowly in small increments until you achieve the perfect balance between flavor, vapor production and potency.
Step #5: The First Time Using this Type of Setup, You Need to Season the Nail
- 1.Set the temperature to 750 degrees.
- 2.Grab a concentrate that you are not as enthusiastic about.
- 3.Wait about 1 to 2 minutes after setting the temperature, as it can take this long to reach it.
- 4.Now, grab your dabbing tool to apply the concentrate to the nail, and use the tool to swirl it around so that the entire surface is properly coated in a thin layer of concentrate.
Step #6: Time to Prepare Your Dabbing Session
- -If you want to dab at a low temperature, wait 1-2 minutes before moving it down to 350 to 400 degrees.
- -For a medium temperature, adjust it to 450 to 600 degrees.
- -For a high temperature, stick within the 650 to 800 range – anything higher than that can burn your concentrates.
Step #7: Have Your Dab Tool Ready
Finally, use your dab tool to apply the preferred amount of concentrate to the nail’s dome while taking a hit through the mouthpiece. Cover the nail’s dome with your carb cap while inhaling. From there, you can repeat.
Other Quick Tips for Using an Electric Dab Rig
Tip #1: Clean it Regularly
Ultimately, your dab rig should be cleaned after each use to prevent gunk, debris, and film from interfering with flavor and your device’s functionality. We offer plenty of cleaning materials to make this process as quick and easy as possible.
Tip #2: Take Your Time Choosing One
Take your time to look at the various electric dab rigs that are out there, and choose one based on your priorities as a dabbing enthusiast. Some devices have more output settings, others are more user-friendly, and they come in different sizes, shapes and styles.
Go Easy in the Beginning
If you are completely new to dabbing, we recommend taking only one hit the first time. Concentrates are very potent, and one hit may be plenty as a beginner.
